The Former President's Framework of Retribution and Reward

Trump's intense appetite for revenge has rapidly transformed into a methodical apparatus. Within the past year, the leader's anger and caprices have assumed the guise of government actions in ways analogous to earlier authoritarian regimes. Government personnel who resist his demands are summarily removed and replaced by devotees. Political figures who challenge him encounter prosecution, trial and sanctions. Opponents have been labeled under executive memoranda as “anti-American”, “anti-Christian” and “against free markets”, and menaced with legal action as “extremists”.

The Justice System Restructured

Each instance involving targeting of Trump's enemies and leniency for supporters displays its own unique features. But, regardless of their individual form, they exemplify expressions of what has arisen as a systematic approach. Those incidents are not coincidental. His removal of Department of Justice lawyers and law enforcement agents, coupled with his placement of supporters in high-level roles, began swiftly, quickly developed a pattern, and has now been molded into a regime. DoJ and the Federal Bureau have been remade into political bodies under the president's explicit command to execute his wishes. Wrongdoing has been turned into routine. It represents the system of punishment.

Management is more concerned with penalizing the chief's perceived adversaries than they are with defending our country's safety.

Internal the System

The foundation of this mechanism has been uncovered in the court filing of three ex- senior Federal Bureau executives filed in the ninth month in the US district court in DC against FBI director an administration figure and attorney general another official for wrongful dismissal in “a campaign of revenge against them for what the accused considered to be a failure to exhibit sufficient allegiance”. The document states that a former acting director, the ex- temporary head, recounts a discussion in which the director “freely confessed the unlawfulness of his behavior”.

The official had sought to shield agency personnel from being fired, the filing alleges. He informed him that “they” – understood by him to be the presidential administration and justice department – had instructed him to dismiss all those who they considered as having worked on a criminal investigation against the president. The filing goes on: “He clarified that he had to terminate the people his superiors told him to remove, because his chance to hold his own role relied on the dismissal of the personnel who worked on matters involving the leader. The director explained that there was no option he or him could do to halt these or any other terminations, because ‘the agency tried to place the chief in detention and he recalls it clearly.’” After the official told Patel he was violating the FBI's own policies, he supposedly said “he knew that and he was aware the character of the summary firings were probably unlawful”.

Broad Consequences

Following his alleged acknowledgment to him, the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau have been gutted and reorganized for Trump's system of punishment. Six of the bureau's high-ranking agents were terminated or pushed out in the first days of the presidency. About numerous professional attorneys at DoJ have taken a “deferred resignation program”. No fewer than multiple government attorneys, such as those in the southern district of New York, resigned in protest over what they considered as ideological pressure in dropping the criminal prosecution against the New York City mayor, the mayor, in exchange for his assistance with the administration's Immigration and Customs Enforcement roundups of immigrants. The anti-corruption unit of DoJ, which handles misconduct investigations, has been reduced to two attorneys. The equality section has been decimated: seventy percent of its staff has resigned. 33% of executives at the justice department have left. The division enforcing ecological regulations has seen departures of 50% its supervisors.

Favors and Punishments

Concerning the mayor's situation, the temporary lawyer for the federal division, she, stepped down in objection against what she characterized as the “trade-off”. The border official, the president's “enforcement chief,” appeared as the agent with Adams on television to declare: “If he doesn't come through, I'll reappear in NYC.”. And, a former official, previously the justice department figure and a past legal representative, who negotiated the agreement, was given an judicial position, a likely pathway to the highest court.

The president's immunity for crimes carried out while in power, provided by the extraordinary ruling of the GOP-led on the highest court, thus thwarting his prosecution over the January 6 insurrection and safeguarding his electoral prospects for the national vote, is the foundation stone on which he stands to protect his supporters. Under these circumstances, he has been liberated to authorize misconduct. The effect of the judicial ruling saturates his administration and the political party completely. The legal case has metastasized. In the words of the former president's legal adviser the figure remarked about the Watergate
