Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Planners parties.
Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
